Three little maids

Update: I was doing a little housekeeping on some of my blog posts and instead of updating this entry blogger has republish it as today's date.  Opps.!!!

After my attempt at making a cosmetic bag I decided to try again.

The first one turned out fine so I made another, only slightly bigger.

Why stop at two when you can have three!!! Unfortunately I didn’t have enough fabric left so gathered up all the scrap bits and made a patchwork version instead.

The fabric belonged to an old pair of shorts which used to trousers, bought in 1988... The lining for the two smaller bags came from cream bed linen my mam was getting rid of. The lining for the large bag was a white shower curtain.

  1. You are SO resourceful. Re-cycling at its best :) The material is very pretty.

  2. They're a great set :)
I like to use shower curtain as a waterproof lining too - seems to be the easiest and cheapest way to find the fabric locally!

    1. I agree. You can pick up a plain shower curtain so cheaply these days.

  3. What amazing recycling! I love the fabric design, very pretty and I'm sure they were lovely trouser/shorts. I think the patchwork one is a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

  5. How brilliant. Fabric from the '80's - that makes it vintage, doesn't it? Love the patchwork one.

  10. You can never have too many bags, there is always something you can find to keep in them. Loving the fabric and love the patchwork one, a great way to use up bits and bobs.

(I'm a lbs & oz girl too, cant get my head around metric)

  11. They are beautiful, and I love the patchwork version, that's really clever. I like making upcycled things too - my knitting needle bag is the "bottom" section of a large pair of jeans - perfect with the legs removed and then stitched around and it was naturally shaped too!

  12. I love these bags, especially the patchwork one. I actually quite like making things with limited materials as I find it encourages/forces you to look at things from another view point. Look forward to seeing more of your makes :)
