Lifting the ban

Thank you for all your lovely comments on last weeks blog, and Natalie, thank you for my award. I'll be posting my answers later in the week.

Yesterday Mr Gertie temporary lifted the ban on my workroom being a no-go area so it was good to be back even if it was just for an hour or two. I know it's just a room but I have missed it so much - ridiculous I know !!!!!

I've been busy this week reading up on how to set up a craft business and also coming up with various bag and accessories designs. That was why Mr Gertie let me into my workroom as I needed the space to convert my rough sketches into something more workable.

For the moment though that's as far as I can get as the next stage is making mock-ups and that's definitely banned !!!!!

I'm making good progress with my mam's quilts. Both the boy and baby ones have been hand quilted. There's just the girls to finish stitching.

To give my fingers a rest from quilting I'm making a start on another cable jumper. I had thought about knitting a simple lace jumper but I wanted something bit more challenging. Here's a photo of what I'm doing.

Whether it'll turn out like this is another matter!!!

Have a great week.

Gertie xx

PS why not pop over to Handmade Monday to see what other fellow craft bloggers have been up to.

  1. So glad that you are able to keep finger active :) Those quilts sound as if they are a real labour of love. Well worth it though. I am sure that the jumper will turn out just like that - I have faith. Hope you have a good week :)

  2. Great progress getting back in the craft room - that'll make you feel better all round! The jumper is a big project so that will surely keep you going while still mostly resting!

  3. I completely understand about missing your craft room! Getting back in there even for a small job is progress indeed. The quilt looks good and I'm sure the jumper will too x

  7. I love cable knit jumpers, my mum was always a big fan and we always had cable cardies with leather buttons.
Nice that the rules were relaxed for a while, I bet you feel like a rebel :)

  8. That cable jumper looks challenging. I have given up knitting for my husband, as he is just too big, plus he never wears anything that I have made for him. I did one knit him a cable cricket style jumper, which I may make him model one week.

  12. Love the look of that jumper, reminds me of the lovely Arran ones my grandmother used to knit me :)
Glad to hear that its a gentle reintroduction to your workroom, just like dashing in to the garden in the spring - too much at the start means delays in the long term!!

  13. Can't wait to see the finished jumper, the picture looks great. It must have made you smile to be back in your craft room (even though it was briefly). Its good to hear you're still taking it slowly and carefully.

  15. The jumper looks a tad complicated, though it looks lovely. I'm rather fond of a cable myself. I know what you mean about being in your workroom. I miss it when ive not been in there for a couple of days, so I think you're doing really well.
    Have a great week yourself.
